Sammy Mae is the Youth Advocate/ Education Specialist for PDC Orenda Center here in Marshfield. The Library is hosting meetings of M.A.R.S.H. (Mentors Are Really Supportive and Helpful). This is an after school group that will be held once a week here at the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library and is free of charge for any child to attend. The goal of M.A.R.S.H. is to provide educational lessons on social skills, connect children with a role model/mentor, and provide fun after school activities. At each meeting, a snack will be provided at the beginning of the meeting. Afterwards, the group will learn about one of the topics listed below and complete a craft or activity related to the lesson. During the last half hour of M.A.R.S.H. mentors will be available to assist for children to talk further about the lesson as well as assist with homework. In theses meetings, the building blocks of friendship, trust, kindness, patience, honesty, listening, understanding, loyalty, and respect will be explored.
