Identity Theft & Privacy Protection Issues
June 20, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm
Tuesday, June 20, 2017
MACCI Conference Room
700 South Central Avenue, Marshfield
This workshop is developed for businesses regarding the rising threat of data breaches and business data security best practices. A data breach can cause devastating consequences to a business, not only damaging its reputation, but also resulting in loss of clientele. The purpose of this workshop is to provide guidelines that help businesses proactively plan to minimize data collection, enhance data protection and create a response plan. By planning in advance, businesses of all sizes can minimize the risks, costs and impact a breach has on their customers and the reputation of their company. The Bureau of Consumer Protection advocates that businesses create a data breach response plan and be prepared for the likelihood that they will experience a breach or data loss; a well-designed plan is an essential part of regulatory compliance, demonstrating that business is willing to take reasonable steps to protect data from abuse.
Our presenter is Laura Fay, Agency Liaison for the Bureau of Consumer Protection within the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. Laura is a subject expert on identify theft and privacy protection related issues.
